Included in the kit is a 16 ounce bottle of drilling mud, which is enough for most people to drill an easy well. If you need more than that, the best option is to go straight to this powder which allows you to produce about 2 gallons of mud. Note that if you order this you will *not* receive the hydrated bottle with your kit this produces so much you won't need it anyway.
To use the drilling mud powder, you must first rehydrate it. Until then, keep it in a *very* dry place, because it is very prone to clumping even in humidity. It is *very* sensitive to moisture in its dry state, so keep everything that touches it super dry.
When you're ready to use it, take a 5-gallon bucket with a good lid and fill it with about 3 gallons of water, and slowly sprinkle 1 bag (2#) of the powder into it very slowly, while stirring with a paint stirrer. Sifting the powder into the bucket with a strainer works well. (see video). The powder clumps VERY quickly, so it is important to add it very slowly to prevent clumping.
Then add this liquid it to your well 1/4 cup to 1 cup at a time, as directed by the DVD.
Once hydrated, the drilling mud is very slimy and very hard to clean, so keep it away from anything you want to not be slimy. If you do need to clean anything that it touches, use diluted bleach to break it down and wash it off; rubbing sand on the slimy surfaces also helps clean large amounts quickly.
